나비세상 Butterfly world

 

 

네발나비과, 부전나비과, 뱀눈나비과, 뿔나비과, 팔랑나비과, 호랑나비과, 흰나비과로 나누어 실었다.

나비와 나방은 어디서 온 말일까. 나비는 '나불나불 거리며 날다'.에서 온 말로서 '낣+이(날+비)'가 그 어원이다. 두시언해(杜詩諺解, 1481년)에서 ‘나뵈, 나비', 훈몽자회(訓蒙字會, 1527년)에 '나뵈', 숙종대(1675~1720) 시몽언해물명(時夢諺解物名)에 ‘남이', 이후 ‘나븨' ‘나비', 현재 ‘나비'가 표준말이 되었다. 고대 그리스에서 나비(butterfly)는 Psyche(프쉬케)로 불려졌는데, 이는 영혼을 의미한다. 프랑스어로는 Papillon (빠삐용), 영어로는 Butterfly(버터프라이), 일어로는 蝶(ちょう)쵸우, 스페인어로는 mariposa (마리뽀사), 독어로는 Schmetterling(슈멭털링), 중국어로 胡蝶(후띠에)라 부른다. 나비가 낣+이에서 왔다면 나방은 낣+방이에서 왔음을 알 수 있겠다. 나비는 蝶(나비 접)이고 나방은 蛾(누에 아)이다.
