자란 紫蘭 Chinese Ground Orchid albino. 대암풀, 학명 Bletilla striata 난초과 자란속의 숙근성 다년초. 높이 50cm. 5-6월에 잎 사이에서 꽃대가 나와 6-7개의 홍자색 꽃이 총상으로 달린다. 열매는 긴 타원형이다. 덩이줄기를 백급(白芨)이라 하여 肺傷咳血(폐상해혈), 鼻出血(비출혈), 金瘡出血(금창출혈), 癰疽腫毒(옹저종독), 潰瘍疼痛(궤양동통), 탕화상, 수족군열(손발이 트는 것) 등의 치료에 쓰인다. 학명의 ‘Bletilla’는 스페인의 약제사 L. Blet의 이름에서 파생된 것, ‘striata’는 줄무늬라는 뜻을 가진 단어에서 온 것이다.전남 해안지방에 자생한다.
