정영(鄭嶺)엉겅퀴 Cirsium chanroenicum

 

 

정영(鄭嶺)엉겅퀴 Jungyeong thistle. 학명 Cirsium chanroenicum, 국화과의 다년초. 높이 50~100cm 어린순을 식용한다. 가잎의 장자리에 침상의 톱니가 있다. 꽃은 백황색이다. 정영엉겅퀴는 처음으로 정령치[鄭嶺峙]에서 발견되어 부르게 된 이름이다. 정령치는 지리산 달궁으로 넘어가는 길목이다. 정씨 성을 가진 장군이 성을 쌓고 지키던 고개라는 전설이 있다.고려엉겅퀴 중에 흰색 꽃을 피우는 녀석과 흡사하나 잎이 전혀 다르므로 쉽게 구분한다. 덕유산 정상 향적봉 부근에는 정영엉겅퀴가 잔치를 벌인다. 손님으로는 왕나비며 표범나비며 온갖 벌들이 참례하여 진수성찬에 입을 다물지 못하고 떠들석하다. 덕유산.
