휀넬 Foeniculum vulgare

 

 

자주회향(茴香) fennel, 예배의 씨. 학명 Foeniculum vulgare, 영국 지중해 북미 원산의 산형과 페니쿨룸속 여러해살이풀. 허브식물. 어린 가지는 데쳐서 먹고 씨는 위장 내의 가스를 배출시키는 구풍제로 쓴다. 열매는 단맛과 향기가 있어 향신료로 쓰인다. 썩은 간장이나 물고기에 이 식물을 넣으면 본래의 냄새대로 되돌아간다는 유래가 있다. 신장염이나 신부전증을 치료하는데도 쓴다. 식장산 인가에서.
