미국칠엽수 Aesculus pavia Rubra.. 붉은꽃을 피우므로 붉은꽃칠엽수라 부르며 열매에 가시가 없다. 1741년경 유럽의 마로니에가 미국으로 건너가 원예품종이 되었다. 칠엽수과의 낙엽 활엽 소교목. 열매에 가시가 없는 점은 일본칠엽수와 같으나 굴곡이 있다. 이명으로 붉은칠엽수, 빨간꽃칠엽수, 잇꽃칠엽수, 빨간칠엽수가 있다. 한밭수목원.
