흰꽃여뀌 Persicaria lapathifolia

흰여뀌 Persicaria lapathifolia. 마디풀과 > 여뀌속의 일년초.  수료, 택료, 천료라고 한다. 높이 30-60cm. 잎은 피침형이고 양끝이 좁으며 표면에 검은 점이 있고 가장자리와 양면 주맥 위에 잔털이 있다. 꽃은 5-9월에 피고 백색 또는 연한 홍색이며 수술은 5-6개로 수과는 흑갈색이다. 홍초는 류마티즘성 관절염, 말라리아, 각기, 瘡腫(창종)을 치료한다.

정철의 <성산별곡> 가운데 다음과 같은 장면이 나온다.

 

 짝 마즌 늘근 솔란 조대(釣臺)예 셰여 두고

그 아래 배를 띄워 갈대로 더뎌 두니

홍료화(紅蓼花) 백빈주(白蘋洲) 어느 사이 디나관대

환벽당(環碧堂) 용의 소(沼)히 배머리예 다하셰라

 

여기서 홍료화는 여뀌꽃을 이르는데 여뀌꽃은 대부분 붉은 색이다.

그래서 흰색꽃은 흰꽃여뀌라 한다.
