반하 半夏 Pinellia ternate

반하 Pinellia ternate, 수옥(水玉), 치모읍(雉毛邑), 지문(地文), 끼무릇, 법반하, 소천남성, 학명 Pinellia ternate. 반하(半夏)라는 이름은 절반의 여름이라는 뜻이다. 키는 20~40㎝. 알줄기에서 겹잎이 1~2개 나오는데 3개의 작은 잎으로 구성되어 있다. 잎의 밑부분 안쪽에 1개의 눈이 달리는데, 위 끝에 달리기도 한다. 5월에 뿌리(잎줄기)에서 솟은 꽃줄기 끝에 엷은 황백색 꽃이 달려 핀다.  꽃턱잎은 녹색이며 안쪽에 털이 있다. 암꽃은 꽃차례의 밑 부분에 ,위쪽에는 수꽃이 달린다. 7~8월에 녹색의 장과가 달려 익는데 가늘고 작다. 덩이줄기를 수전(守田)이라고도 하며 감기, 거담(혈담), 건비위, 건위, 결기, 결핵, 경련 같은 호흡기, 순환계 질환을 다스린다.
