서양산사나무  Crataegus laevigata, hawthorn English, Thom quick- set, English hawthorn,  Quick- set Thom, Paul's scarlet hawthorn, double pink hawthorn, hawthorn 'Paul's scarlet', 홍천엽산사, 겹분홍산사나무, 홍화산사나무, 옥시칸산사나무, 폴스산사나무, 영국, 서부유럽 원산. 장미과 산사나무속의 낙엽활엽 교목. 높이는 8~12m. 꽃은 4~5월에 담홍색, 붉은색, 분홍색 등으로 겹꽃으로 편평꽃차례로 달려 핀다. 열매는9~10월에 둥글고 적색으로 익으며 산사나무와 달리 하얀 점이 없고 매끈하다.
