무늬독나방 Euproctis piperita Oberthur. 날개편길이 수컷 17~30mm, 암컷 32~39mm. 성충은 5~6월과 7~8월에 걸쳐 연 2회 나타난다. 더듬이가 수컷은 깃털 모양이고, 암컷은 빗살 모양이다. 앞날개는 황색 바탕에 보라색이 나는 갈색으로 무늬이고, 뒷날개는 담황색을 띠고 있는데 기부 쪽은 짧은 자갈색의 띠가 있다.
