별주부전(鱉主簿傳)

사천 비토섬.

별주부전의 발상지라고 하는 경남 사천시 서포면 비토리 비토마을을 탐방할 요량이었는데 지나쳐 비토해양낚시공원에 와 버렸다.

2004년 진주 국제대 이우상 교수의 연구 결과 비토섬의 토끼전 전설과 그 배경, 섬 현황 등이 일치하여 마을 조성사업을 추진하게 되었다.

이런 주장의 근거라도 되는양 주변에는 토끼섬도 있고 거북섬도 있다. 비토(飛兎)는 섬의 모습이 날으는 토끼를 닮았다 하여 붙여진 이름이다.

이에 질세라

충남 태안군 남면 원청리도 10여년 전부터 별주부전의 발원지라 하여 두 지방자치단체가 경쟁을 하고 있다.

적층문학이 가지고 있는 맹점을 십분 활용하여 관광 체험마을로 거듭나려는 노력이야 가상타 하겠으나 학술적 통일이란 과제가 주어졌다 할 것이다.

지자체나 관광객 입장에서는 어떤 이득이 있는지 몰라도 외지에서 온 낚시꾼만 들떠 있고 어촌마을의 풍경은 끈적거리는 삶의 무게 때문인지 무심하기만 하다.
