꽃산딸나무 Flowering Dogwood 북미원산. 학명 Cornus florida L. 층층나무과의 소교목. 북미원산. 꽃 주위의 꽃잎처럼 보이는 부분은 실제로는 꽃이 아니라 꽃싸개잎(포엽)이다. 꽃싸개잎은 총 4개로 길이는 약 3cm 정도다. 꽃싸개잎의 . 대부분 흰색이지만, 일부 품종은 분홍색을 띤다. 드물게 완전히 붉은색인 경우도 있다. 열매는 길이 약 10~15mm, 폭 8mm 정도의 타원형으로 붉게 익는다. 열매는 여러 새들의 중요한 먹이 중 하나다. 보문산.
