틸리아케우스 무궁화 Hibiscus tiliaceus, 영명 sea hibiscus, beach hibiscus, coast hibiscus, coastal cottonwood, green cottonwood, native hibiscus, native rosella, cottonwood hibiscus, kurrajong, sea rosemallow, 갯무궁화, 해변무궁화, 아욱과의 소교목,  라틴어 종명 tiliaceus는 피나무속(Tilia)과 같은을 의미하며, 잎이 그것과 유사한 난형의 하트 모양. 꽃잎은 5장이며 밝은 노란색이고 기저부에 해당하는 중심부는 암적색.  꽃은 7월에 피고 수명은 한나절이며 낙화직전 저녁때 붉은색으로 변한다. 호주 동남아 원산. 수피는 질겨 밧줄이나 보트균열 예방, 꽃에서 안토시아닌인 Cyanidin-3-glucoside는 항산화물질이다. 노란색 꽃을 피우는 황근(黃槿, Hibiscus hamabo)은 우리나라 자생식물이다. 한밭수목원.
